Occurrence of concurrent ‘orthogonal’ polarization modes in the Liénard-Wiechert field of a rotating superluminal source

چکیده

We evaluate the Liénard-Wiechert field of a rotating superluminal point source numerically and show that this radiation field has the following intrinsic characteristics. (i) It is sharply focused along a narrow, rigidly rotating spiral-shaped beam that embodies the cusp of the envelope of the emitted wave fronts. (ii) It consists of either one or three concurrent polarization modes (depending on the relative positions of the observer and the cusp) that constitute contributions to the field from differing retarded times. (iii) Two of the modes are comparable in strength at both edges of the signal and dominate over the third everywhere except in the middle of the pulse. (iv) The position angle of the total field swings across the beam by as much as 180. (v) The position angles of its two dominant modes remain approximately orthogonal throughout their excursion across the beam. Given the fundamental nature of the Liénard-Wiechert field, the coincidence of these characteristics with those of the radio emission that is received from pulsars is striking.

A new mechanism for generating broadband pulsar-like polarization

Observational data imply the presence of superluminal electric currents in pulsar magnetospheres. Such sources are not inconsistent with special relativity; they have already been created in the laboratory. Here we describe the distinctive features of the radiation beam that is generated by a rotating superluminal source and show that (i) it consists of subbeams that are narrower the farther th...

شناسایی رفتار دینامیکی جریان ابرکاواک زایی

Studying the behaviour of supercavitation from the energy aspect can be divided into two sections. Studying the behavior of supercavitation in the flow field and in vicinity of the flow field. A large portion of field energy is kept in the field, and the rest of it distributed as noise (sound) out of the field. In this paper, harmonious structures of the field which are flowing as energy source...

استفاده از POD در استخراج ساختارهای متجانس‌ یک میدان آشفته آماری- همگن

Capability of the Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD) method in extraction of the coherent structures from a spatio-temporal chaotic field is assessed in this paper. As the chaotic field, an ensemble of 40 snapshots, obtained from Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) of the Kuramoto-Sivashinsky (KS) equation, has been used. Contrary to the usual methods, where the ergodicity of the field is need...

Design and Development of High Gain, Low Profile and Circularly Polarized Cavity-backed Slot Antennas Using High-order Modes of Square Shaped Substrtae Integrated Waveguide Resonator

In In this paper, two low profile, single fed cavity backed slot antennas providing a circularly polarized (CP) wave are introduced. One of the antennas presents a right-handed CP (RHCP) wave, while the other one offers a left handed CP (LHCP) wave. The proposed antennas consist of a square shaped Substrtae Integrated Waveguide (SIW) cavity incorporatng two couples of radiating slots to radiate...

Transverse spin of a surface polariton

We consider a p-polarized surface electromagnetic wave (a classical surface polariton) at the interface between the vacuum and a metal or left-handed medium. We show that the evanescent electromagnetic waves forming the surface polariton inevitably possess a backward spin energy flow, which, together with a superluminal orbital energy flow, form the total Poynting vector. This spin energy flow ...
